There are 2 trends which are increasing the demand for rabbit boarding services. One is the increase in pet ownership since the COVID19 pandemic and lockdowns. The other is the increasing standards and level of responsibility towards animal care.

More and more rabbit pet parents are opting out of the smaller rabbit cages and hutches of old, and the boarding services that offer the same. The preferred accommodations rabbit pet parents are choosing are indoors with adequate space to hop and run around. We also are more aware of our rabbits high need for social interaction and companionship.

Rabbits may be a niche pet, representing only 1-2% of all pets in Australia, yet with the trend of increasing pet ownership, there are now more pet parents who are choosing to keep rabbits.  That is provided they live in any other state than QLD where keeping rabbits is prohibited without a special license.

With this increase in rabbit pet ownership comes an increasing need for rabbit boarding holiday care services and the supply has been developing to meet this demand. Rather than a kennel style boarding facility, rabbits do better in a host arrangement which is more similar to their home environment. This new model of rabbit boarding in the homes of other pet rabbit keepers also means rather than needing to take your pet to a boarding facility on the outskirts of town, your bunny can board nearby, just a short drive away.
